Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) is the largest and most qualified school of graduate and post-graduate degrees in the Agricultural Sciences, in Portugal, and its know-how is recognized nationally and internationally. ISA has its roots in the remote 1852, with the creation of the Instituto Agricola e Escola Regional de Lisboa.
Forest Research Centre or in Portuguese, Centro de Estudos Florestais (CEF), is a research unit devoted to the integrated investigation of forests and related ecosystems and of forest products and forest-based services, first established in 1976 within the Portuguese National Research Network, and imbedded in the ISA, in the Technical University of Lisbon.
IUFRO
is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of forest scientists, which promotes global cooperation in forest-related research and enhances the understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests and trees.
COST ACTION FP0603
is about "Forest models for research and decision support in sustainable forest management". The main objective of the Action is to promote the developing of methodologies to improve forest models to support the sustainable management of forests.
PINEA Project
regards "Water and nutrient relationships for Pinus pinea modelling in Portugalt". The main objectives of the PINEA Project are: (i) the calibration and validation of a process based model for Pinus pinea in Portugal; (ii) evaluation of the effects of water and nutrient availability on Pinus pinea growth and cone yields; (iii) to improve existing empirical modeling equations relating to growth and cone yield of Pinus pinea.
FAO Forestry
Department helps nations manage their forests in a sustainable way. The Organization's approach balances social, economic and environmental objectives so that present generations can reap the benefits of the earth's forest resources while preserving them to meet the needs of future generations.

Autoridade Florestal Nacional. Its mission states that its committed with the promotion of the sustainalble forest resource management.
European Forest Institute
(EFI) has the purpose to undertake research on the pan-European level on forest policy, including its environmental aspects, on the ecology, multiple use, resources and health of European forests and on the supply of and demand for timber and other forest products and services in order to promote the conservation and sustainable management of forests in Europe.
