Welcome!
This website intends to provide updated information on the Curriculum Vitae and the work being carried out. Currently a major topic of interest are the non-wood forest products through the COST Action FP1203, the STAR TREE Project and the PINEA Project. Forest growth models are one of the main interests and in particular process-based models. "Process-based or mechanistic forest models are mathematical representations of forest systems that incorporate our understanding of physiological and ecological mechanisms into predictive algorithms." Currently the research has been focusing on several forest tree species growing in Portugal. Eucalyptus globulus is the main exotic tree species growing in Portugal. Pinus pinaster is the main forest tree species for timber production growing in Portugal. Pinus pinea is one of the forest tree species with highest increase in area of distribution in Portugal. In addition, there has been already forest research work been carried out for Pseudotsuga menziesii. If you have suggestions or comments to make you are welcome to use the contacts provided. Finally, there are several forest related resources available. Thank you for your visit!
