Welcome
I'm currently doing a
PhD on "The Role of Forest Certification for Biodiversity Conservation
and the Sustainability of Cork Oak Woodlands". Specifically, I'm trying
to:
(1) determine at landscape scale how forest certification (namely FSC - Forest Stewardship Council certification) is being implemented in relation to biodiversity hotspots. Is certification occurring more in areas with higher conservation value, or the other way around? What does this mean for biodiversity conservation?
(2) develop objective criteria for the identification at the landscape scale of High Conservation Value Areas for biodiversity.
(3) determine, at the local scale, if forest certification is contributing to the conservation of riparian habitats and shrublands, which are key habitats for biodiversity in cork oak woodlands, that face serious threats due to incorrect forest management.
